The Alabama Legislative Session ended on April 22, 2010
HB 432 the bill that makes Human Trafficking illegal in Alabama was approved by the Legislature and is now be referred to as Act No. 2010-705. The law will be effective July 1, 2010.
HB 519 was approved to create a commission to study Girls and Women in the Criminal Justice System. Act No. 2010-517.
SB162 was approved on the last day of the session to save the PACT program and is Act No. 2010-725.

The Zonta Club of Birmingham has been active in promoting justice in this very serious crime. Zonta International and District 11 have also promoted projects to eliminate Human Trafficking.

Received favorable vote from Governmental Affairs Committee and passed Senate on 2/23/10. As of 3/25/10 this bill is pending a vote in House Committee.
HB 432 (Updated Info) Human Trafficking Sponsor Williams (J)
Favorable vote from Judiciary Committee –1 substitute offered on 2/4/10. The substitute appears to track the language of SB 372 –see above. This bill passed House on 3/04/10 by a vote of 102-0. As of 3/09/10 pending action in Senate.
